The Committee of the Sector Rūnanga

The Committee of the Sector Rūnanga consists of 3 representatives (or 8 in the case of the health sector – 2 per region) who between them represent Māori within the sector on:

(i) the sector committee, and
(ii) The Committee of Te Rūnanga o Ngā Toa Āwhina [Rule 37].

There are only two representatives on each of these committees so the Committee of the Sector Rūnanga must work out for themselves how to allocate the workload and decide who attends which meeting. The role and functions of the Committee of the Sector Rūnanga are:

  • to be a forum and conduit for the processing of issues that arise between biennial hui;
  • to be a forum where its members can share information and test ideas;
  • to provide advice and support to the sector committee and the Committee of Te Rūnanga o Ngā Toa Āwhina;
  • to organise the Sector hui.
